Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana is Hiring a Remote Part-time Hospitality Staff I Lab Tech

The Position: Perform efficiently and effectively within the Hospitality Administration functions of the Lab Resources area, Courses Restaurant or Bakery Café or Courses Catering. Key Responsibilities: Demonstrate a strong customer service and/or student advocacy through a positive attitude of approachability, adaptability, strong problem-solving and desire to identify and support student success. Engage in behaviors that create an inclusive environment in which all people are valued and supported. Go beyond the easiest or surface answer for a student or instructor, or an internal or external customer, and get to the root cause of the problem, question or issue to solve it as quickly and professionally as possible. Reliable - has the ability to maintain scheduled hours Is willing to step into any role outside of receiving and assist with front of house, back of house, or events that may require lab tech assistance Utilize proper ServSafe practices in receiving and labeling, storing of all food products and supplies. Monitor lab equipment and storage areas for cleanliness, sanitation, and functionality, reporting equipment failures promptly. Receive deliveries and organize food products and supplies Coordinate lab supplies with class cart requisitioned products in a timely, safe and efficient manner. Report shortages of requisitioned product to lab supervisor or purchasing agent. Clean, organize, and maintain culinary/baking labs in the Hospitality Administration Department. Complete food prep as directed by lab supervisor or other lead staff. Assist with front of house set-up or tear down for restaurant service or catered events. Assist with garden prep, harvesting, watering (seasonally required). Employee must wear the required uniform when in labs or classes: Ivy Tech polo, black pants, slip resistant shoes, and lab coat when prepping or around food prep, and must wear hat when in labs or around food. No jewelry, earrings, etc. Must adhere to ACF standards and Marion County Food Code. Keep up to date on Ivy Lead e-learnings. Front of House & Events Responsibilities: Customer Service, smiles, is welcoming, and puts our guests needs first. Teachable, Has the ability to learn front of the house processes and service techniques. Service, Provides for the service needs of our guest using our outlined service techniques. Cleaning and maintenance, Cleans appropriate any service/kitchen area as needed. General, Is willing to accept any responsibility. Skill, Is able to maintain a service area on his or her own without supervision or direction. i.e. Host Stand, Bar, Station in Dining Room. Knowledge, Has a basic understanding of event setups and operation. Client Contact, Presents the appropriate professionalism to meet with clients. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of having successfully completed HOSP 101 within the Hospitality Administration curriculum. Employee must have the required student uniform and tool kit. Must be a student in good academic standing or a Hospitality Administration graduate Work Hours: Hours will vary, based on class schedules, volume of business in the restaurants and catering events.
