GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION Working under minimum supervision, one must be able to assist in the installation, maintenance, and preparation of laboratory and classroom equipment for the Automotive Program. This includes the regular cleaning and organizing of the 50k square feet of laboratories, storage areas. Setting up laboratory projects for demonstrations and preparation of materials and training vehicles used by the students and instructors. Maintaining and repairing 80 program training vehicles each semester. Organizing and running open lab days where students can come repair their own vehicles outside of class. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Customer Service Overriding Expectation: Demonstrate a strong customer service and/or student advocacy through a positive attitude of approachability, adaptability, strong problem-solving and desire to identify and support student success. Responsibilities: Cleaning and organizing the program laboratories, tool rooms, storage areas, and tool sets. Maintaining tool and equipment inventories, assist PC in the ordering of replacement tools, equipment, and equipment Preparing materials, equipment and vehicles for laboratory use, including maintaining supplies utilized for instruction, shipping and receiving of required supplies to support instruction and diagnosing and repairing the training vehicles. Operation of Forklift required to unload receivables and to move large engines/equipment. Maintaining, upgrading and testing of existing equipment to insure equipment is in working order, secure, inventoried and ready for classes. Inspection and testing of all safety equipment in the laboratories. The above list of duties is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School diploma or GED Some mechanical and electrical experience Excellent communication skills, a working knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical equipment and the ability to use and maintain basic hand tools The ability to work as a team member and work with a minimum of supervision in the completion of assigned tasks PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Technical certificate or Associate of Applied Science degree.
