Responsibilities
- Execute all tasks safely.
- Review work instructions and specifications to determine the appropriate procedure, machining sequence, and dimensions for the finished work piece.
- Attach fixtures to the machine bed and securely position and fasten work pieces according to setup instructions.
- Assemble cutting tools in tool holders and place them in the machine as specified.
- Load control media into the machine control console or input commands to retrieve preprogrammed instructions from the database.
- Manipulate controls and input commands to position cutting tools accurately and initiate machine operations.
- Monitor machine operation for malfunctions, such as worn or damaged cutting tools, through observation and listening.
- Change cutting tools and adjust the workpiece location during the machining process per instructions.
- Measure workpieces for compliance with specifications using quality tools like CMM, calipers, micrometers, depth gauge, go-no-go, etc.
- Report discrepancies to the lead/supervisor.
- Operate additional machine tools during controlled machining cycles (multi-tasking).
- Perform deburring of parts.
- Provide training to others.
- Maintain 5S requirements in the work area.
- Be willing and able to work overtime.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s degree in Machine Tool Technology; or 7 years of related job experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and using measurement tools, including calipers and micrometers, with tight tolerances.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Capability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Application of basic algebra and geometry concepts.
