iUrban Teen is Hiring a Program Associate Near Vancouver, WA

Location: Vancouver, WA
About Us
iUrban Teen (iUT) is a nationally recognized program dedicated to bringing career-focused
education to historically and systemically excluded teens ages 12 to 18. Youth receive hands-on
exposure to a variety of careers and civic engagement opportunities that step them outside of
their current boundaries. Our program goals are to increase awareness and knowledge of STEM A
careers and training, to build confidence and critical thinking, to provide mentorship and
internship opportunities and to create a collaborative learning model for youth.
We are looking for Program Associates to work part time with middle school and high school
students in Vancouver Public Schools (VPS) from June 2022 through June 2023.
Responsibilities:

  • Create an open and positive learning environment that encourages students to ask

questions and to be active participants.

  • Communicate with families and caregivers and encourage their involvement in student

presentations and showcases.

  • Use and demonstrate problem solving, critical thinking, perseverance, and patience with

students in the program.

  • Always ensure the safety and well-being of the students in the program.
  • Work collaboratively with VPS staff members to provide instruction and tutoring in math,

writing, reading and other content areas as needed to address learning deficits

  • Respond to iUT & VPS communications in a timely manner.
  • Participate in professional development activities provided by iUT and VPS.

Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience working with black indigenous people of color students and

communities, youth with developmental delays and disabilities, and foster care youth.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in trauma informed care, social emotional learning, and

strengths-based principles.

  • Experienced facilitator with the ability to motivate, direct, and instruct students 11 – 18

years old, of various abilities, in mixed age group settings.

  • Willing to sign and abide by iUT contract agreements, including Non-Disclosure Agreement

and use of copyrighted curriculum developed by iUT.

  • Ability to pass criminal background check.

Preferred Experience

  • Fluent in Chuukese or Spanish

About this position:

  • Limited duration position. Part-time.
  • No health/medical benefits.
  • $30 per hour.
