Overview
IU Health Methodist's Cardiovascular Surgical A2North is a fast-paced, high acuity, mixed model unit that sees both Progressive Care and Med/Surg patients. This unit's focus is the treatment of cardiovascular patients through surgical and medical management of diagnoses. Diagnoses include cardiac arrhythmias, circulatory disorders, coronary artery bypass graft (CABG), cardiac valve repairs/replacement, and post heart catheterization procedural care.
Cardiovascular Surgical is the only Progressive Care unit at Methodist Hospital with registered nurses who are specially trained in the care of Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD). With the required specialized care of these patients, the diagnoses can be varied.
Nurses can expect to gain skills in many areas such as: advance cardiac life support (ACLS), advanced critical thinking, EKG interpretation, arrhythmia management, continuous medication infusions management, and expertise in post-op surgical and cardiovascular care.
On A2N, we value collaboration, teamwork, compassionate care, and professional growth and development.
