StampTech Fasteners TM Division Description :

The ITW StampTech Fastener Division serves the major OEMs and Tier suppliers in the North American automotive market. The division supplies stamped metal fasteners and engineered fastener assemblies that leverage our deep-draw stamping technologies.

Job Description

This position is an entry level Registered Apprenticeship through the state of Tennessee. The apprentice must satisfy all on the job learning and related technical instruction requirements as listed on the apprenticeship framework.

Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and preventative maintenance programs. Applies electrical theory and related knowledge to test and modify developmental or operational electrical control equipment and circuitry.

Uses PC Software to troubleshoot issues with electrical control systems via hardware specific software for PLCs, HMIs, and other control systems.

Primary Key Responsibilities

  • Assembles and tests experimental motor control devices, switch panels, transformers, generator windings, solenoids, and other electrical equipment and components.
  • Modifies electrical prototypes to correct functional deviations under the direction of an Electrical Engineer.
  • Diagnoses cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and perform preventive and corrective maintenance action.
  • Troubleshoot electrical control systems via online connection to PLCs and understanding of ladder diagram language to identify inputs and outputs
  • Using PC Software, troubleshoot issues with electrical control systems via hardware specific software for PLCs, HMIs, and other control systems as needed
  • Ability to identify and add / remove software connections between HMI interface and control system hardware.
  • Works with production equipment performing change-overs and adjusting machines to ensure proper operation of equipment.
  • Develops wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications for system or equipment modifications or expansion;

directs personnel performing routine installation and maintenance duties.

  • Plans, directs, and records periodic electrical testing and recommends or initiates modification or replacement of equipment which fails to meet acceptable operating standards.
  • Performs routine and preventative maintenance on building equipment. Needs to be familiar with motors, conveyors, pulleys, filling and packaging lines in order to troubleshoot issues on equipment.
  • Performs electrical, mechanical, welding, plumbing and carpentry duties as needed for the facility.
  • Reads and interprets drawings and schematics to locate problem areas and suggests methods for corrective action.

  • Cross-train with department co-workers to increase the knowledge, flexibility, and efficiency of the overall ITW team.
  • Maintains equipment including daily inspections.
  • Follow all rules, regulations and work processes set forth by the company.
  • Hold self-accountable to create and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Competently perform all tasks with a focus on safety within a fast-paced environment.
  • Contributes to team effort by focusing on continuous improvement and success for the entire team.
  • From time to time, personnel may be assigned other duties for the purpose of training, additional assistance or for other reasons as needed necessary by management.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Effectively communicate in a professional demeanor when dealing with the public or any level of employees.
  • Ability to safely work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • Ability to work overtime

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

The employee could be exposed to extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
