Job Summary:

Ithaca College is seeking a Head Coach for our Men's Club Rugby program. The Head Coach is responsible for establishing appropriate competitive and developmental goals and objectives for each season in collaboration with the Men’s Club Rugby executive board. The Head Coach will lead all aspects of Men’s Club Rugby training sessions to include both on-field instruction and film review. The Head Coach will plan and lead preparation for competitions and be responsible for roster management and player substitutions.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Plan, direct, and conduct in-season and where appropriate non-traditional and pre-season team and individual athlete practices and competitions.

2. Design instructions for individual student athletes and for specific team needs, and teach proper skills, skill development, and team concepts to student athletes.

3. Develop, demonstrate, and promote multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating an inclusive, diverse and respectful College community. Demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion as a college priority, communicate to employees an expectation of behavior that is civil and inclusive when interacting with all staff, faculty, students and visitors and promote a flexible, collaborative and inclusive work and living environment.

4. Analyze opponent performance; present and develop competition strategies that are commensurate with appropriate tactics.

5. Oversee the promotion of student athlete safety and well being in all training sessions, conditioning activities, practice activities and competitions. Provide student athletes with instruction regarding physical health and safety.

Qualifications:

Candidates should be qualified as a World Rugby Level 1 Coach, Level 2 qualification or above is preferred. Candidates must have the ability to cultivate an inclusive, diverse and welcoming environment; ability to treat all people equitably and with a sensitivity and awareness to cultural difference; demonstrated ability to hold others accountable for behavior that is supportive of a community that is diverse and inclusive; and a track record of leading hazing-free programs.

Additional Information:

This appointment will run from late August through early May. The Men’s Club Rugby team typically practices three to four days peer week and competes on weekends. Our team is in the NCR Small College division and competes in the Lake Effect Conference during the fall semester (15’s), and shifts to exclusively 7’s competition during the spring semester.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $4,000.00 - $6,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 5 – 20 per week
