The AML / Sanctions – Screening Analyst will operationally execute activities related to International Private Banking (Bank and Broker Dealer) and Branch. Perform Customer Due Diligence/Enhanced Due Diligence (“CDD/EDD”) and screening of clients and transactions (as well help the supervisor with tasks related to the calibration and updates of respective systems). Assess information for Higher Risk/Complex International customers by administering the Anti-Money Laundering Laws, in order to mitigate, analyze, approve and assess different types of risks. Assist the Bank/Broker dealer in complying with applicable laws, rules and regulations, as well as with financial services practices and controls.
Duties & Responsibilities
Work on the necessary support to strengthen the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering program, Sanctions & Embargoes / OFAC and its respective data management;
Execute and complete BSA/AML/OFAC related investigations ;
Assist in the gathering of documentation and information requested by internal, external, and regulatory auditors;
Collaborate during audit examinations in the gathering of documentation and information, and provide reports requested by local, regional or head office auditors and regulatory authorities (if applicable and requested by coordinator);
Review applicable account opening documentation for new accounts, as well as documentation reviews for maintenance and changes on established accounts, and prepare related risk scores with adequate documentation to support the work performed when applicable;
Assists execution or confirmation of blocking accounts and assessing unblocking requests and other triggering events as determined by regulation;
Compliance with BSA/AML/OFAC laws, rules, regulations and the bank's BSA/AML policies and procedures
Support the control, Report and participate in some special projects (i.e. Risk Assessment).
Support the process 314 a) and, 311 Special Measures queries, assessing possible matches, formalizing results of investigations, and reporting as necessary within established time frames. For Special Measures obtain applicable documentation. Prepare and follow up periodic communications and controls.
Screening of clients/third parties against sanctions lists; clearing of matches; preparation of applicable reports and proper updates;
Support systems updates and improvements (and tests) demanded by new regulations requirements or other business needs;
Support manager/supervisor on AML projects (review existing processes, design new workflows, perform tests, implementations, follow ups, efficiency, etc.);
Agile methodology, project management, and programming skills such as Java, Alterix, SQL, SAS, VBA, Excel
. Compliance with Anti-Money Laundering and Bank Secrecy Act related principles, laws, rules and regulations, as well as Itau’s related policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum 3 years of experience in AML or Sanctions and Embargoes
Knowledge of BSA/AML, Federal and State Banking Regulations
Banking knowledge
AML Certification or commitment to obtain it within 6 months of employment
Detail oriented individual with analytical skills, ability to conduct in-depth research and possess strong communication skills
Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently
Must be well-organized and capable of performing multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to prioritize and use sound judgment
Fluency in Portuguese and/or Spanish desirable
PC Skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, World-Check, Banker’s Almanac, etc.
Some knowledge and experience of Monitoring and OFAC systems
Agile methodology, desirable project management, and programming skills such as Python, Alterix, RPA.
