Position Summary:The role of the Assistant Controller is critical in the development and control of IT Solutions’ financial systems and reporting. The Assistant Controller will be responsible for establishing controls and maintaining standards within our financial systems to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. The Assistant Controller is also responsible for analyzing the organization's financial position with respect to profits, trends, costs, and compliance with budget and presenting findings and recommendations to senior management.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain controls over the financial systems to facilitate processes and maintain records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and is completed in accordance with specific company expectations
- Assist Controller in the formulation and implementation of internal controls and policies to comply with established best practices
- Assist Controller in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements
- Manage journal entries, transactional data, and reconcile accounts for the monthly or annual closing
- Review the company’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances
- Analytical review of monthly financial statements that includes explaining budget to actual variances to management
- Accountable for the accuracy of all closing statement deliverables
- Verify and reconcile inter-company transactions
- Understand accounting processes (AR, AP and payroll) to assist as a backup as needed
- Assist Controller with external and internal audit process
- Lead day to day projects to completion, including month end close process
- Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations
- Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.)
- CPA or CMA preferred
- Advanced user of MS Excel
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Effective time management and multi-tasking skills
- Maintains the ability to stay organized and be detail-oriented
- Demonstrates a passion for solving problems or helping others and take the initiative in driving continuous improvement/execution excellence
- Exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to self-manage and multi-task effectively and accurately in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5 years experience in a finance/accounting leadership or management position
- Experience with Net Suite or equivalent ERP software highly preferred
