Machine and Panel Builder /Technician

  • This position in is Mooresville, NC just north of Charlotte, NC.

IST Precision Inc (www.istprecision.com) machine design and manufacturing company established 2001 in North Carolina that focuses in the design of automation equipment, product development, and manufacturing. We are seeking a full-time Machine builder who is familiar with both mechanical and electrical systems.

A Machine and Panel Builder /Technician is responsible for assembling, wiring, and testing mechanical and electrical equipment including, but not limited to, junction boxes, motor control panels, machine control systems, and machine wiring by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Work both independently and as part of a project team.
  • Comply with all quality and safety regulations.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Up to 8 weeks of travel (annually) is required. Travel is spread throughout the year.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
  • Assists in receiving and organizing hardware for builds
  • Organize and maintain electrical schematics, shop materials, job inventory and tools to ensure that the shop portrays a professional image..
  • Maintains a well-organized and clean work area
  • Notifies management of product discrepancies, standard product inventory shortages, equipment malfunction or misapplication.
  • Complies with company policies and procedures giving special attention to safety regulations.

ELECTRICAL

  • Wire electrical sub-panels from schematics and customer specifications.
  • Conducts electrical assembly by mounting equipment on sub-panels, positioning parts in panels, inserting in boxes, soldering, and crimping wires, routing and completing machine wiring.
  • Modify enclosures as required to fit components.
  • Operate a variety of labeling devices and machines.
  • Install cord grips, hardware, flexible and rigid conduit to interconnect enclosures.
  • Performs point-to-point continuity tests of all wiring and tests performance of all products prior to shipment, when applicable.
  • Assembles machine wiring to include bending and securing conduit to mechanical structures.
  • Understands the build process and how to make mechanical or electrical changes.
  • Proficient with industry electrical code, NEC, ANSI, NFPA, and OSHA.

MECHANICAL

  • Read and interpret assembly blueprints or specifications manuals and plan assembly or building operations.
  • Understands the build process and how to make mechanical or electrical changes.
  • Position or align components for assembly, manually or using hoists or lifts
  • Lay out drill, ream, tap, or cut parts for assembly.
  • Set up and operate metalworking machines, such drills, grinders, saws, hammer drills, etc.
  • Understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Measure and layout floor plans for systems using mathematics as needed
  • Verify conformance of parts using measuring instruments, such as calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
  • Ability to weld or welding certification a plus.

Salary negotiable and dependent upon skill level.
