Senior SQL Data Developer at iSphere - IT Consulting Firm in Houston
iSphere, is seeking an experienced Senior SQL Data Developer to join our team in the Spring area for Flex Remote opportunity. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, supporting, and enhancing database programs and reports using the SQL platform. This senior role involves handling complex projects and serving as a mentor to junior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a senior resource for junior team members, providing guidance and assistance with questions, challenges, and issue resolution
- Collaborate with business owners to gather and determine business requirements; analyze data to develop or update reports, stored procedures, and database solutions
- Monitor database performance and optimize for maximum efficiency
- Create new and improve existing database objects and packages to enhance functionality and automation of the system
- Transfer source data using various tools into the database system and perform quality checks on data interfaces
- Participate in solution testing; prepare scripts and reports for moves to production following change control processes
- Troubleshoot production issues as needed
Required Competencies:
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a high attention to detail and concern for data accuracy
- Flexibility to occasionally provide after-hours and weekend support to meet business needs
- Solid data analysis and mapping skills with intermediate proficiency in Microsoft database and reporting technologies and tools, including Office, SharePoint, SQL Server Integration and Reporting Services and Management Studio, Visual Studio, and Team Foundation Server
- Proficiency in database performance monitoring and tuning to maximize efficiency
- Knowledge of developing new databases and enhancing existing database objects and packages to advance functionality and automation of systems
Minimum Qualifications/Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience in an SQL Server development role required
- Proven experience in developing new and enhancing existing database objects and packages to advance functionality and automation of systems
- At least 2 years of experience in monitoring database performance and tuning to maximize efficiency
- SQL Server Integration and Reporting Services experience required
Formal Education & Certification:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred
