Position Summary:

The Assistant Manager assumes a pivotal role as a trusted aide to the Store Manager, providing essential support to Shift Leaders, Sales Associates, and Maintenance Technicians in the seamless execution of daily business operations across both store locations. Responsibilities encompass supervisory duties, training initiatives for team members, meticulous scheduling, and proficient management of inventory, sales, and organizational assets. Additionally, the Assistant Manager is entrusted with upholding superior service standards for both customers and staff members alike. In the absence of the Store Manager, they assume full responsibility for the efficient management and operation of both stores.

Isleta Resort and Casino Guest Service Agreement

All Team Members will display 100% commitment to World Class Guest Service through the delivery and maintenance of Guest Service Standards established by the Isleta Resort and Casino.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: This list of tasks is illustrative ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class.   • Operates store in the absence of the Store Manager and supervises employees through the preparation of work schedules, training, information of merchandise programs, and reviews job assignments of subordinates for completion.
  • Notifies Store Manager of changes to schedule or staffing with advanced notice. Covers shifts as needed due to unexpected staff absences, or special projects.
  • Operates Passport electronic cash registers, SSCS, calculators, and other equipment.
  • Practices good customer service skills in a friendly, efficient manner; handles customer complaints properly and professionally; and provides training for staff in customer service techniques.
  • Complies with all laws, regulations, policies, and procedures governing the operation of the store and ensures store personnel compliance.
  • Directs reconciliation of daily receipts for all cashiers and shift change reports at the end of shift and is responsible for receipts of all merchandise including daily gasoline deliveries.
  • Assists in the development and coordination of sales and profits plans, merchandising and display plans, in-store promotions, and advertising.
  • Maintains equipment, external appearance of store and outside grounds, and cleans floors, windows, restroom, food preparation areas, shelves, or counters, etc.; readies high-margin products such as coffee, fountain drinks, and similar items and adheres to Food Service Sanitation Standards.
  • Stocks and maintains shelves, sales area and grocery items ensuring correct temperatures, refrigeration, and frozen food requirements.
  • Enforces store regulations and polices when selling controlled substances including alcohol and tobacco products.
  • Notifies store Manager of any discrepancies in the operating results on the shift report, or cash over within 24 hours.
  • Consistently and promptly posts markups and markdowns, manages store usage of merchandise, handles voids, and ensures timely write-offs for damaged or unsellable items. Adheres strictly to accounting principles and maintains meticulous recordkeeping practices within established guidelines.
  • Adheres to comprehensive loss prevention procedures and guidelines, diligently following protocols for adding and removing items from inventory.
  • Ensures security and robbery prevention needs of the store are met.
  • Analyzes inventory reports and responds to sales forecasting needs.
  • Continuously communicates and informs Store Manager of maintenance, safety, or sanitation problems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of various automated office equipment and Passport cash registers
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to work comfortably with subordinates, management, and the public.
  • Ability to demonstrate superior customer service and maintain a friendly and professional appearance.
  • Ability to work under pressure during peak times.
  • Ability to handle adverse situations tactfully and professionally both internally and externally.
  • Ability to work with management and subordinates while promoting a team environment.

Supervision:

  • Assists with hiring, evaluating, disciplining, and developing support staff.
  • Assists with coordinating training, orientations, and delegating work of staff.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3 years or more of operational experience as Sales Associate at a convenience Store or a similar setting preferred.
  • 2 years of supervisory/management experience in a retail field preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in managerial accounting, bookkeeping, problem solving, analytical skills, and report writing preferred.
  • A minimum of 1-year computer experience using Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint preferred.
  • A Minimum of 1-year on point-of-sale system – Passport and SSCS preferred.

Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certification

  • Must acquire and maintain a Gaming License issued through POIGRA.
  • Pass pre-employment drug test and background investigation.
  • Must acquire New Mexico State Alcoholic Beverage Service Certification.
  • Must acquire POIGRA Alcohol Server License.
  • Must maintain all Isleta Resort and Casino-wide educational and certification requirements.
  • Flexible work schedule, willingness to work any days/hours as needed.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties the employee is occasionally required to stand for extended periods of time including but, not limited to: climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:

  • The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed to various weather conditions.
  • Team member may occasionally deal with irate or hostile individuals.
