GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The Floor Nurse will perform all duties as assigned. Must be organized, able to follow direction and take initiative, must be dependable, prompt and accountable. Provide excellence in patient care, accurate administration and documentation is essential. Display a positive attitude, be professional and compassionate.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Assesses and manages patients with routine, minor, and acute illnesses; performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing and systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychological and cognitive status.

· Provides teaching, educational and emotional support to patients and families.

· Utilizes written guidelines/protocols for clinical decision making and management.

· Prepares and completes documentation of patient care as provided by law, regulation, and established policy in a legible and timely manner.

· Exhibits a high degree of courtesy, tact, and poise when interacting with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.

· Adjusts to fluctuating peaks in patient flow, acuity, and other operational demands while maintaining quality.

· Identifies barriers to care and assists patients for further care based on severity of illness and symptoms.

· Demonstrates initiative in identifying and taking charge of new tasks; willingness to perform unassigned tasks when needed.

· Applies safety principles as identified by established policy. Ensures compliance with legal issues including but not limited to patient confidentiality and risk management, ensures compliance with office policies, federal, state, and local regulations.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

In addition to medical clinical knowledge, the Floor Nurse needs to be familiar with MS office and MS windows computer programs, and have the ability to learn additional computer skills quickly. Must be professional and demonstrate strong communication skills. The Floor Nurse must have the ability to read, interpret and comprehend office correspondence, demonstrate good organizational and time management skills. Must be able to work independently, be self-motivated and take initiative.

Must be able to prioritize work appropriately and be able to produce accurate results efficiently. The Floor Nurse must be able to multi-task assignments, be dependable, adaptable, and flexible and be a team player; he or she must demonstrate integrity, honesty, and self- confidence, be detail-oriented along with strong follow-up skills. The Representative must have good problem solving skills with the ability to make appropriate clinical decisions. Must demonstrate a positive attitude and show respect towards others.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The Floor Nurse must have a high school diploma or general education degree. The Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational/Practical nurse must keep Florida licensure in active status at all times. All medical assistants must be certified prior to hire date. All floor nurses must have proof of educational requirements being met. Basic Life Support certification must be current and active at all times.

WORKING ENVIORNMENT

The Floor Nurse position will primarily be assigned to a home based clinical office location. The Floor Nurse will interact with patients, parents, co workers, outside vendors, supervisors, department managers, administrator and providers.

Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals may occur. 

POSTION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday as well as some Saturdays. Work times and schedule vary and will be established by the Clinical Manager. Overtime may also be required, and must be approved in advance.

TRAVEL

Traveling to other office locations from time to time and Saturday office rotation will be required.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, use hands and fingers, handle or feel; and reach hands and arms, stoop, knee, crawl, rotate and move intermittently during working hours.
