Isidore Newman School is Hiring a 2023-2024 - Advancement - Leadership Giving Officer Near Orleans, LA

The Leadership Giving Officer will play an important role in reaching the school's fundraising goals by developing, cultivating, and building strong relationships with donors and potential donors. As a senior member of the Advancement team, this individual will work closely with the Director of Advancement to foster a robust culture of engagement and philanthropy. This position is 12-month and salaried and reports to the Director of Advancement. This position is expected to be a leader in the office and meet annual goals for the NEWMANfund and all campaign giving.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward leadership annual giving ($5k or more) and major gift prospects ($100k or more).
  • Work with the Director of Advancement to develop targeted campaign strategies that will accelerate sustainable philanthropic growth.
  • Lead prospect strategy meetings with the Advancement team.
  • Ensure that prospects are actively managed with regular face-to-face meetings and outreach with prospects to communicate annual and campaign goals and move prospects along the pipeline.
  • Maintain a portfolio of 150 prospects with a minimum visit goal of 4-6 visits a week.
  • Work with the Director of Advancement to establish and administer a customized communications program for major and planned giving donors, including stewardship, the scheduling of annual status meetings, and the sending of regular pledge reminders to ensure timely pledge collection.
  • Communicate appropriately to inform prospects and donors of special new opportunities.
  • Research prospects and identify strong volunteers for annual giving, alumni giving, and reunions.

  • Demonstrates adaptability to respond to shifting priorities both to manage emerging situations and take advantage of new opportunities.
  • Evening and weekend work is expected through active participation in School events and to address communication/media opportunities as needed.
  • Can be a leader in the office.

Required Qualifications:

Prefer a minimum of 4-7 years of demonstrated fundraising success in a non-profit or educational setting.

Demonstrates excellence in developing strategies for identifying, cultivating, successful soliciting, and stewarding current and prospective donors.

Has proven track record of closing major gifts.

Knowledge and understanding of planned giving and willingness to stay current in the field.

Strong organizational and communication skills, including the abilities to speak and write persuasively and effectively.

Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and the ability to motivate volunteers and prospective donors.
