The Ishpeming Public School District announces a vacancy for a full-time Guidance Counselor at Birchview Elementary School. An M.A. degree in guidance and counseling from an accredited university is required. Candidates must possess either a valid Michigan Department of Education counselor endorsement or a valid Michigan Department of Education counselor license as provided for in Administrative Rule 390.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to provide personal counseling for students, families, and groups. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to provide support services for students in the areas of academics, course planning, school rules, and decision-making skills. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to assist and direct students with academic and career planning. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to coordinate a range of tests including coordination of State testing. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to conduct individual student assessments. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to assist with the development of the school class schedule. Candidates must be available for parent conferences. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to provide all of the services stated in Administrative Rule 390.
The Board of Education may elect to employ a candidate with such alternative qualifications that the Board determines to be acceptable and appropriate.
