POSITION TITLE: Seating Layout Designer 1

POSITION OVERVIEW

Responsible for preparing complete and accurate seating layouts from which customers can verify purchase order quantities, Bill of Materials, and installation dimensions. Support several market-based teams to meet schedules. Participate in Continuous improvement initiatives.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Focus on one or more of the following areas:

• Project and Layout support – Works closely with Project Coordinators and Sales to create accurate seating layouts to meet project specifications. Will work on various size projects. Will support various market-based teams with their schedule.
• Cross functional teams – Works closely and collaborates with cross functional teams in a market-based team environment.

The primary responsibilities for the position include:

• Team Member Execution – Creates accurate seating layouts by converting AutoCAD or PDF files. Takes responsibility for their own work and collaborates with other team members to learn new commands/processes within AutoCAD to make improvements. Creates takeoffs from layouts for entry into production. Occasional field visits to learn about critical dimensions or observe the installation process.
• Product and layout support – Schedule drawing completion in accordance with customer requests. Complete letters of transmittal, component breakdowns, verify product dimensions/specifications to meet building and ADA codes, and their relation of various parts to each project using appropriate tools/processes.
• Meets project requirements/design criteria by cross-functional collaboration – Collaborate with market-based team members,architects, contractors, installers, and field partners to ensure accurate information for final layout for approvals, product ordering, and installation, and project specifications are met. Fosters positive communication and relationships with all internal and external stakeholders along the business value stream.
• Problem Solving – Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives. Identify layout issues in the beginning to avoid costs later in the process. Learn to be comfortable in an environment where you are encouraged to raise issues, take responsibility for them and work with others to make improvements.
• Supports the organization - Seeks opportunity to gain better knowledge of areas outside of personal expertise. – “Go and See” problems in other areas outside of seating layout department. Don’t blame others…find out what the process failure is by learning what others do. Exhibit a constructive humble attitude across the organization.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Associates degree or certification in architectural drafting or related field of study. Basic AutoCAD 2D skills.

Ability to read and interpret prints, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals and business presentations. Delivers effective presentations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Advanced Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, trigonometry, geometry, and their applications to engineering processes.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
