QUALIFICATION: The District Librarian will: Have a valid Illinois Teaching Certificate, and meet current Library Information Specialist certification standards as endorsed by the Illinois State Board of Education
MISSION: The District Librarian will provide a ‘library program’ meaning a articulated, sequential kindergarten through grade 12 library media program to enhances student achievement, one that is integral to the school district’s curricula and instructional program, while working collaboratively with the administration and instructional staff

To empower students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information
To instill a love of learning in all students and ensure equitable access to information
To collaborate with classroom teachers and specialists to design and implement library support activities and units of instruction
To provide the leadership and expertise necessary to ensure that the school library program (SLP) is aligned with the mission, goals, and objectives of the school district and is an integral component of each building learning/instructional program

EVALUATION: The District Librarian will be evaluated in accordance with district policies as they relate to Section VI of the Iroquois County Community School District #9 Teacher Evaluation Plan 2013, until an evaluation tool fitting to this position and job description can be created in union with PERA guidelines. The District Librarian reports to the District Administration Team and Superintendent. The Watseka Community High School Principal shall conduct the formal evaluation in collaboration with other District Administrators.
