Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Referral Specialist to join our team. The Referral Specialist will be responsible for coordinating and processing referrals for patients, ensuring accurate documentation and timely communication with healthcare providers. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical coding, insurance verification, and working in a medical office setting.
Duties:
- Coordinate and process referrals for patients, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for referrals
- Communicate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary medical records and documentation
- Review medical records and assign appropriate codes (ICD-10, ICD-9) for billing purposes
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date referral records in electronic health record systems
- Collaborate with medical office staff to ensure seamless patient care coordination
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, answering questions and addressing concerns related to referrals
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting
- Proficiency in medical coding (ICD-10, ICD-9) and insurance verification processes
- Knowledge of managed care policies and procedures
- Familiarity with medical records management systems
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
