IREX is Hiring a Remote Fulbright Teacher Exchanges - Research Project Advisor(s)

Title: Fulbright Teacher Exchanges Research Project Advisor(s)Dates: July 2024 – August 2025 (with possibility for extension)Job Description: Fulbright Teacher Exchanges are sponsored by the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and administered by IREX. The programs are governed by policies established by the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.The Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Research Program provides an opportunity for K–12 educators from the United States to take part in a three- to six-month professional development experience abroad. Participants pursue individual Research Projects, take courses at a host university, and collaborate with colleagues on best educational practices.IREX is seeking applicants for the role of Research Project Advisor(s) who have experience supporting students or educators in conducting educational research and facilitating professional development for educators in person and online. Preferred candidates will also have experience abroad and/or in multicultural contexts in the United States and an understanding of the dynamic relationship between policy, practice, and research in education.The Research Project Advisor(s) will support approximately 20 U.S. K-12 educators annually to design, conduct, and finalize a Research Project as a part of their participation in the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Research Program. The Research Project Advisor(s) will leverage their breadth of diverse experience in educational research, teacher training, and curriculum development to support and guide participants as they develop, revise, and implement their Research Projects. The Research Project Advisor(s) may also provide guidance for implementation and dissemination of the Research Project results in the participants’ schools, districts, and wider education community on their return.In coordination with the U.S. Department of State, IREX may offer multiple contracts for the role of Research Project Advisor to accomplish this scope of work depending on program needs and the pool of candidates.Desired Qualifications:
  • PhD/EdD in Education Research or other relevant field;
  • 10 years of experience in K-12 education/consulting and/or research field (at least 5 years of work directly in K-12 professional development, experience as a classroom teacher, or school administrator required);
  • Experience designing and conducting professional development training for educators in-person and using online and virtual technologies;
  • Broad knowledge of, and experience with, computer programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as Learning Management Systems (Canvas preferred) web, Zoom, and social networking tools;
  • Ability to work independently, proactively, and with strong attention to detail and record keeping;
  • Professional and enthusiastic communication skills with clients; and
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Duties: The Research Project Advisor will work with IREX to:
  1. Support Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Research Program participants in the articulation and framing of their Research Projects.
  2. Develop and facilitate in-person workshops at an orientation in Washington, D.C. in early August 2024.
  3. Develop and facilitate instructional webinars.
  4. Develop process and planning activities to support the Research process.
  5. Curate a hub of additional resources of open-source materials to support program participants in the articulation and refinement of their Research Project questions and goals.
  6. Conduct support calls for participants before, during, and after program participation.
