GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary purpose of this role is to bring to life one of IRCO’s values, “Offering Care and Empowerment,” by supporting and nurturing our staff’s well-being using an anti-racist and trauma-informed lens. As the Employee Wellness Coordinator, you will design and administer staff wellness programs and activities to improve employees’ well-being, including physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and financial health. Develop and modify programs that reflect the changing needs of the employees. Manages and oversees all aspects of employee wellness programs, working closely with HR Compensations and Benefits Specialist, Health and Wellness Services Sector, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging Sector, Training and Development Manager, and others. 

Conducts their work through a DEI, anti-racism, intersectional, cultural humility, and trauma-informed lens, so lived experience working in a diverse, multicultural environment is necessary. Utilizes a broad and deep perspective on how to support the integration of wellness into the daily work lives of IRCO staff and center staff voice. This position reports to the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging Director, and is a strategic advisor to HR and all levels of management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • The IRCO Employee Wellness Coordinator will identify key strategies, based on IRCO Equity and Strategic plans and other input, to build wellness into the organizational culture and to maximize employee engagement in workplace wellness programs and initiatives. Helps plan and execute staff wellness strategies identified in the IRCO Equity and Strategic Plans.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive, innovative staff wellness programs, events, and training to align the organization’s staff wellness goals and IRCO values, to improve employee health and well-being, including physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and financial health. 
  • Creates, develops, and maintains relationships with external contractors to provide regular staff wellness activities.
  • Acts as the Executive Sponsor for the Staff Wellness Affinity Group. Provide administrative, coordination, and fiscal oversight in accordance with group goals, objectives and workplan deliverables. Ensures the group stays active and abides by Affinity Group guidelines.
  • Collects and interprets data and develops key performance indicators to measure the progress of staff wellness initiatives.
  • Collaborates with HR to establish policies related to staff engaging in wellness activities.
  • Maintains internal communication/Staff Wellness sites on IRCO Intranet, including information on physical and mental health programs. 
  • Collaborates with the Compensation and Benefits Team to provide information and training on staff benefits and wellness as they intersect. 
  • Collaborates with IRCO benefits companies such as Providence to advocate for policies, procedures, insurance instruments, and services that reflect what IRCO staff need. 
  • Collaborates with the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging Team and the Health and Wellness Sector to support trauma informed practices and other DEIB activities that intersect with staff wellness. 
  • Provides written or spoken reports on IRCO staff wellness activities and expenditures to various stakeholders. 
  • Maintains orderly records of folders/files/budgets for future reference. 
  • Maintains certifications/learning for knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for this position. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

MINIMUM JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, Human Services, Social Sciences, or related field with at least three (3) years professional work experience in community health, family, or social services, or
  • An associate degree in health, Human Services, or related field with five (5) years appropriate work experience; or
  • Comparable combination of education, training, and professional work experiences
  • Documented experience in data collection and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-culturally with individuals and communities.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of health behavior change theory and workplace environmental applications.
  • An understanding of Behavioral Health best practices that are trauma-informed and inclusive to the immigrant/refugee experience. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, intermediate Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • Ability to learn and apply other technology, such as Paylocity Learning Management System.
  • Highly proficient in Public Speaking/Presentation/Facilitation. 
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Highly proficient in project management.
  • 3 - 5 years of work experience, preferably in a multi-lingual/multicultural environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient Experience in Public Speaking/Presentation.
  • Mental Health/Trauma - Informed/Mindfulness Certification or Learning. 
  • Demonstrated experience delivering health promotion and health education programs that achieved measurable improvements in employee population health.

KNOWLEDGE:

Education: bachelor’s or associate degree (3)

Experience: 3-5 years of experience is required (3) or any combination of experiences, certifications, and education that demonstrates high level competency to perform the job tasks.

Licensure, Certification: Peer Support Specialist Preferred; National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBHWC)-Certified Health Coach preferred. 

Additional Language Required: English required – Bilingual preferred. 

Computers: This position requires a high proficiency level with Microsoft Products, including Microsoft 365, Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, and PowerPoint. Ability to learn other applications as needed.

Work Independence:

Positions at this level are expected to work under minimal supervision. Positions regularly contribute ideas, but decisions or actions that commit the organization or which are outside established policy/procedure are expected to be referred to others (4)

Planning:

Positions at this level required refined planning and goal-setting skills. Plans must consider options and contingencies, and must include methods for handling any difficulties encountered. (4)

Supervision:

Positions at this (Lead) level are responsible for daily work provided to staff/volunteers in similar job functions at comparable or subordinate levels. Positions are not responsible for hiring, firing, disciplinary actions, etc. (2)

Environment:

This level has a work environment that is usually well protected, free from hazards or obstacles. There is little element of personal risk or hazard Job conditions are usually comfortable, with only occasional issues, temperature change (2)

Schedule:

The work schedule is mostly stable and does not fluctuate without prior notice. (2)
