Job Summary

The Transportation Analyst is responsible for analyzing all aspects and data of our transportation platforms and functions. This will include Transportation Insight, LYTX, Fuelman, and all leased or owned equipment assessments relating to general projects. This position will also assist in preparing long-term planning and budgets related to expansion and contraction of the business as it relates to Fleet and Transportation requirements and process improvements through trend analysis.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Data analysis of Transportation Insight platform to include branch shipping performance, missed savings opportunity review, and cost analysis.
  • Data analysis of LYTX platform to include fleet performance, route optimization, and cost analysis.
  • Identify and communicate regional and national trends pertaining to transportation.
  • Collect and analyze best practices and standards for transportation related activities.
  • Identify and implement transportation initiatives with the support of the Sonepar Transportation team and Irby Senior Leadership.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and transportation metrics to measure performance, identify trends, and evaluate the effectiveness of transportation initiatives.
  • Assist local management in assessing current and future needs; incorporate this information into company-wide plans to help meet the needs of continued growth, changing business requirements and consistency of corporate standards.
  • Identify and manage national programs to address ongoing maintenance and upkeep, assist with negotiating and implementing service contracts, review vendor invoices, work with HR and Safety to meet the needs of local associates.
  • Document and maintain all transportation related standards and best practices.
  • Support the accurate reporting of general transportation information and functions, including IFTA, master unit log updates, titles, taxes and registrations, and asset management as it relates to the fleet.
  • Perform data analysis of Fuelman program to include fuel cost review and fraud detection.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A general understanding of transportation management systems including Transportation Insight.
  • Must be able to identify problems, develop and evaluate alternative solutions, and successfully resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Ability to self-manage multiple projects while working in a team environment locally or regionally, strong organizational and communication skills, familiarity with project management tools and concepts.
  • Ability to plan and collaborate with others to obtain efficient results.
  • Ability to create reports and maintain accurate records.
  • Very strong customer orientation, service awareness and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Able to expedite projects and drives project objectives.
  • Must have good judgement regarding problems and issues.
  • Must know when to seek help in resolving problems.


Desired Skills / Experience

  • Microsoft Suite – including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project and Teams.
  • Strong organizational, reasoning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to explain complex issues to teach and train in individual and group settings.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in conjunction with large sized projects.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Desire to drive continuous improvement.
  • Travel up to 10%.
  • Must be comfortable in both office and warehouse environments and working via remote tools such as SharePoint, Teams, and Webex.
