Senior Project Manager, Finance & Budgets, Real World Evidence

The Senior Project Manager position resides within the Scientific Delivery Center, a part of the Medical Science Services (MedSci) team. MedSci encompasses multiple scientific disciplines, including epidemiology, regulatory science, evidence synthesis, health economics and outcomes research, health economic modeling, and primary data collection. We provide a wide range of consultation services including expertise on the design and delivery of real-world studies, the advantages and limitations of real-world evidence, and the use of real-world data for biopharmaceutical patient safety departments.

We are looking for a talented and energetic Senior Project Manager to support project-level financial activities and develop analysis tools and business processes for MedSci. In this role you will work closely with project leads, business leads, and senior leaders to manage the flow of financial information ensuring accurate and robust reporting, providing insight on key performance indicators, and identifying and coordinating opportunities for continual process improvement that drives strategic decisions and maximizes project profitability and cash flow.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for activities performed to support project-assigned and business unit (BU) functions:

Project-level

  • Establish and manage performance dashboards, analyze event triggers/alerts, and determine appropriate follow up for project lead or others to act upon.
  • Manage aspects of the Project Finances including setup, monitoring of progress against contract, expenses, invoices, reconciliation, tracking, KPI review and proactive financial risk management.
  • Coordinates and follows up with internal departments to address variances, changes or anomalies identified at the project level that exceed the agreed tolerances.
  • Proactively prepares/presents project financial information and recommendations to stakeholders to ensure financial success of the project.
  • Review and support project resource allocation within project budgeted for assigned portfolio/ projects.
  • May support with onboarding of new project team members.

Business Unit Level

  • Maintain a detailed understanding of operating leader requirements and develop processes that will meet or exceed these requirements.
  • Supports the development of business plans and or tracking/reporting of any business improvement or strategic opportunities which have been implemented by each BU Lead; supports to drive adoption.
  • Identifies risks that can lead to process improvement/standardization across the organization and proactively drives the implementation of process improvements related to these.
  • Works with technical teams, leads, cross-functional teams to build appropriate analysis tools (to a high level of detail) used to drive analysis and decision making.
  • Develops and/or delivers training materials, communications, etc. and drives adoption of newly developed tools.
  • Perform financial analyses at a project level and business unit level as well as a consolidated view of the regional level.
  • Analyzes structured financial and operational reports to identify trends, anomalies and focus areas to achieve business objectives. Runs ad hoc analysis using various sources to provide trends, results, and business insights to enable corrective action(s).
  • Liaises closely and builds strong relationships with local and regional finance and operations teams to ensure alignment on internal forecasting requirements. Provides ad-hoc analysis and responds to queries from stakeholders to further provide visibility.
  • Partner with operational leaders on the preparation of forecasts and budgets, as well as risk mitigation actions
  • Assist in the development of the quarterly business unit operating review presentation for the company’s senior leadership.
  • Perform business case analyses to evaluate investment decisions.
  • May assist with compliance reporting, metrics and follow up with leads/individual contributors to support business unit goals.
  • May participate in regional and global initiatives.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • 3-5 years managing projects or departmental budgets required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills required to interact with all levels of staff and leadership.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize and work within a matrix team environment is essential. 
  • Ability to identify financial issues and execute mitigating actions.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple work requirements to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong software and computer skills, including MS. Office applications including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Previous knowledge and/or experience with a financial reporting or accounting package like SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft preferred.
  • Excellent and demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to reason independently for the purpose of assessing and recommending specific solutions.
  • Ability to set baseline targets, track trends and implement mitigation plans.
  • Ability to work through others to deliver results to the appropriate quality and timeline metrics, experience productively partnering cross functionally to advance work effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to make decisions, bringing clarity to disparate information to inform actions and drive results.
    Demonstrated problem-solving and financial negotiation skills.

Additional Requirements:

It is critical that this role has a hands-on mentality and quickly builds a strong understanding of the IQVIA offerings, processes, and systems. Must be flexible and an effective team player, with strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to prioritize and multi-task. Works well under pressure. Ability to carry out detailed analysis and information gathering to resolve problems on non-routine matters. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be able to structure and deliver discrete projects to solve specific organizational needs.

MINIMUM RECRUITMENT STANDARDS:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 5 years relatable experience in one or more of the following (accounting, business analysis, finance, or project management) or equivalent combination of education, training and demonstrated experience.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $117,200.00 - $175,800.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
