Role Overview

The Director of Client Services will be responsible for directing the short-and long-term operational performance of the assigned multifamily portfolio, including the execution of asset management business strategies and routine reporting. The Director will support department business planning, administrative operations and will serve as a resource for answering questions, providing guidance and offering follow-up recommendations concerning asset and property management operations.

Partner with Cortland executive leadership and strategic partners to maximize the value of the portfolio through optimized acquisitions, dispositions, and rent levels, while monitoring the health of the portfolio to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.

  • Act as the primary liaison with institutional equity partners providing consistent, property and portfolio level, detailed reports, and narratives. Create and foster a positive, interactive platform to continuously educate and inform investment partners.
  • stakeholders receive returns on their investments. This involves communicating and fostering solid relationships to provide regular updates on the portfolio’s financial performance.
  • capital budgets and long-term goals for existing assets and acquisitions to formulate annual business plans, monitor property performance, and identify opportunities for growth while playing a critical role in driving the financial success and long-term growth of a real estate portfolio.
  • Develop trusting and collaborative relationships throughout the organization and establish a strategic decision-making process representing a true partnership and alignment among all functional departments.
  • Oversee property and portfolio compliance requirements and ensure 100% compliance and that deadlines are consistently met.

Your Building Blocks of Success

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, real estate, or a related field required
  • Proven track record of 7 years of experience in operations with an additional 3 years real estate asset management in a senior managerial role
  • Experience in managing a large portfolio of rental properties in a specific or varying asset class
  • Proven experience overseeing multifamily housing properties/portfolios on a national basis and/or multiple different, geographic markets. Bring institutional knowledge and experience to quickly integrate and adapt to the firm’s portfolio and business goals.
  • Exceptional financial/analytical skills with the ability to teach, articulate and communicate to a variety of audiences inside and outside of the organization.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to understand, interpret and resolve complex business issues. Proven ability to gain consensus and lead teams throughout an organization.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines in a high-volume, fast paced environment. Self-starter, team player with a sense of urgency and a genuine desire to succeed in an entrepreneurial corporate culture.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a genuine desire to be part of a rapidly growing organization and a willingness to take on the challenges that come with growth.
