IPG Photonics Corporation is Hiring a Mechanical Technician (23-491) Near Oxford, MA
As a Technician at IPG, you will join the team responsible for producing our world-class semiconductor lasers and will work in a semi-clean room or clean room environment. You will have the opportunity to receive training from highly experienced engineers and learn many exciting, new skills.
- Works alone or with other Associate Technicians and Senior Technicians in the assembly of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components for machine builds, in compliance with design information and assembly instructions.
- Proficient at the functional check out and trouble-shooting activities required to startup and debug of systems.
- Works with Project Manager, Material Specialists, and Design to complete projects.
- Understand and utilize basic robot functions to support machine builds.
- Maintain personal notes or journal of information related to manufacturing procedures and processes, for use by peers as required.
- Document mechanical, electrical, or pneumatic “redline” changes and roadblocks.
- Participate in design reviews and machine function discussions.
- Utilize proper ordering procedures to obtain parts, equipment, and supplies.
- Complete machine builds within quoted build hours within given constraints and circumstances under their control.
- Suggest improvements to simplify designs or reduce costs.
- Understand and follow safety regulations.
- Understand and follow applicable machine assembly and wiring standards.
- Understand and follow mechanical prints, electrical and pneumatic schematics.
- Properly maintain and safely operate tools and equipment.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area, including all community shop work area.

- Comfortable working with fragile parts and semiconductor processing equipment.
- Regular and reliable attendance and the ability to work overtime. Must be present and on time for work as scheduled.
- Requires working knowledge of wiring practices and methods.
- Requires basic knowledge in use of measuring equipment.
- Be able to work carefully, consistently.
- Familiarity with PCs and Microsoft Windows.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Two year degree in technical or engineering field preferred.
- Work-related experience in technical or engineering field is required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
