Job Description
The Department of Public Safety at Iowa State University is seeking candidates for Police Captain of Professional Standards and Training.
While individual assignments may require special training, a Police Captain of Professional Standards and Training must be capable of serving within Field Services (Patrol) and Investigative & Threat Management Services.
The primary responsibility of a Police Captain of Professional Standards and Training is to direct the operations and management of evidence, accreditation and complaint investigations.
This position will provide leadership to supervisors and staff, as well as manage special events and review training planning and coordination.
This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining written directives and other operating procedures, including standards set forth by local, state and national accreditation programs.
This position will also serve in the absence of the Chief of Police and Assistant Chief of Police. The Police Captain of Professional Standards and Training will be a liaison with community and university stakeholders.
