Title: Admissions Ticket Taker

Reports to: Admissions Coordinators

Date of Work: Fair Time, August 8th - 18th, 2024

Hours: AM1 6:00 am – 2:30 pm, AM2 7:30 am – 4:00 pm, PM1 2:00 pm – 9:30 pm, PM2 5 pm - Close

Overview: The Admissions Department is responsible for the entry and exit of 1.1 million patrons during the Iowa State Fair. We pride ourselves on good customer service and efficiency in getting customers onto the grounds. We are looking for hard-working, dependable, and friendly people to assist with the selling of gate admissions or parking.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

• Check in at assigned time, checkout a shirt, and receive gate assignment.
• Admit fair patrons with proper credentials at walk through and drive through gates and verify valid vehicle permits.
• Scan all tickets. Tear paper tickets and return stub to patron.
• Remind anyone leaving of re-entry policy. Stamp hand if needed.
• Never leave your post unless relieved by another worker.
• Have proper dress, grooming, and appearance.
• Have knowledge of and enforce the Iowa State Fair and Admissions policies.
• Be responsible and uphold the Iowa State Fair brand and image.
• Provide exceptional customer service to all Fair staff and attendees.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• 16 years or older.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Good customer service.
• Ability to listen and communicate effectively.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions including rain and heat.
• Have reliable transportation.

Job Type: Part-time

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
