Inwood Academy for Leadership Charter School is Hiring a DIRECTOR OF ACADEMIC INTERVENTION SERVICES Near New York, NY

Position Description: Qualifications:
Bachelors degree
Previous experience in a public school environment preferred
Bilingual; Spanish preferred
Proficiency in Google Suite
Mastery of communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal) and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of colleagues, parents and families
Commitment to meeting the needs of a diverse student population
Excellent time-management skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
Duties & Responsibilities:
Programming
Directs special education services for students with disabilities, and ensures that all students have access to the schools core curriculum.
Monitors the development and implementation of all aspects of the RtI program process.
Provides accurate and timely data to Instructional Leadership for evaluating outcomes for students with disabilities, and completes annual data reports, as needed, for NYSED.
Facilitates research regarding trends and best practices to support appropriate recommendations for student success through rigorous, innovative, and technological programming.
Supervises the implementation of Academic Intervention programs and classes
Advises on the design, furnishings, and equipment for special education classrooms and facilities.
Advises Department Directors in development of class schedules to ensure that appropriate services can be provided.
Collaborates with the Family and Community Engagement team to inform parents of incoming students of available programs and services
Supervision and Professional Development
Attends demo lessons and participates in interviews with prospective staff members for Academic Intervention, Special Education, and related services.
Directly oversees the IEP and Special Education Coordinators
Supervises and evaluates all daily activities of Academic Intervention staff members relative to assigned tasks, including teaching practices and professional responsibilities with regards to RtI and IEP deadlines
Monitors related service providers, both on-staff and contracted through the CSE, to ensure accurate record-keeping and provision of services
Plans, implements, and facilitates professional development for school staff regarding best practices for providing academic interventions.
Engages all new staff members in effective induction procedures regarding IALs model of academic intervention, procedures, and the RtI framework
Coaches staff in continuous improvement through self-evaluation and goal setting.
Academic and Behavior Intervention
Collaborates with Deans and Principals regarding the discipline of students with disabilities.
Supervises the Deans and Counselors in the creation of Functional Behavioral Assessments, and the implementation of Behavioral Intervention Plans as needed.
Leads meetings with grade-level teams following the RtI protocol, including with regards to Special Education referrals.
Schedules and plans bi-weekly agendas for the Child Study Team in both buildings
Compliance
Advises and monitors the annual budgets for special education services, including bi-monthly per pupil billing.
Oversees and directs the allocation of special education staff in accordance with state and local standards and student needs.
Reviews federal and state legislation/regulations related to special education; identifies and shares the impact of changes with the Leadership Team.
Facilitates compliance with legal mandates, and participates in due process procedures as requested by Leadership.
Supervises the IEP Coordinator in maintaining accurate spreadsheets and files of former and current students served in special education.
Prepares reports and information for charter authorizer, including the Annual Site Review documentation.
Maintains accurate documentation of special education service provision (both for on-staff and contracted services).
Collaboration with Committee on Special Education (CSE)
Supervises the IEP Coordinator in communication with the CSE on matters concerning special education, including IEP reviews, re-evaluations, and initial referrals for evaluation.
Participates in IEP meetings with CSE, as needed.
Other duties as assigned by Administration
