Position Description
Summary: 
The Blending / Weigh Up Technician will handle pre-defined tasks, complete processing checklists, and respond to issues related to food safety. The candidate will be responsible for blending and operating equipment that is used to blend products. The candidate will be responsible for setting up, weighing up partial quantities/ingredients, and operating equipment/devices that are used to weigh up ingredients during the manufacturing process of powder products. They are required to understand and follow standard operating conditions, standard operating procedures, wear and use PPE, and work instructions that are used as part of the quality system to assure making standard product. 
Essential Functions:
  • Setup, stage, and weigh up micro quantities of raw material products (lot controlled) in a manufacturing environment according to batch records within current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
  • Manually fill (formulating) drums/containers with ingredients, using and calibrating scales.
  • Read and interpret formulas (mixing instructions), record data (manually and electronically) for each batch such as the ingredients used and cycle time (mixing time).
  • Blend raw material according to production batch records.
  • Use batch sheets to follow the mixing instructions to blend products and check and record ingredient information.
  • Follows cGMP and HAACP guidelines to ensure food safety and that product meets formula specifications.
  • Follow/understand SOPs and activities related to the manufacturing process
  • Will be required to wear PPE which may include respirator or face shield.
  • Clean, vacuum, wash, and sanitize equipment using water hoses, cleaning or sanitizing solutions, or rinses. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Knowledge/Skills:
  • Good reading and math skills: able to read ingredient list, lot expiration dates, identify and weigh exact portion amounts.
  • Must be adept with the use of hand tools such as scoops, utility knives, pallet jacks, and other equipment/devices that may be used during clean-up/sanitization operations.
  • Able to walk and stand on a consistent basis.
  • Must be self-motivated and willing to learn new and changing responsibilities.
  • Able to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 175 pounds occasionally.
  • Knowledge of cleaning/sanitization processes and practices.
  • Must have good organizational and communication skills.
Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be have a basic understanding of food manufacturing processes and equipment, and a general knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Experience in sanitization of manufacturing equipment preferred.
  • Knowledge of lockout/tag out processes/procedures a plus.
  • Experience with ERP or WMS systems a plus.
  • Experience using an RF scanner/iPad device a plus.
  • Fork lift certification a plus.

The Blending/Weigh Up Technician I report directly to the Blending Supervisor and works with others in the Blending and Weigh-Up department, and across the organization.
