Inverness Animal Hospital is Hiring a Certified Veterinary Technician Near Inverness, FL

Our 1.5 doctor hospital is searching for 1 full time certified veterinary technicians to meet our growing needs. No after hours, emergency or weekend hours required. Enjoy being centrally located in Citrus County, close to beautiful natural springs, rivers, lakes, bike trails, state forests, and a small town feel in a growing community. We consider our staff to be our work "family" and do not have employee turn-over problems, our need for new technicians is due to hospital growth and employee retirement after more than 25 years of service. We want our staff to be successful and support continuing education to maintain your license. Confidence with surgery and anesthesia procedures, multitasking and good client communication are essential for this position. Please note - salary is commensurate with experience. Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarian with all surgical cases, monitor pets under anesthesia, assist with dental cleanings, perform dental and regular digital radiographs.
  • Help maintain the dental unit, prep surgical packs, CO2 laser maintenance.
  • Assist with patient intake for surgery, help run afternoon appointments / exams.
  • Prepare vaccines, inform clients about blood testing recommended and / or required.
  • Draw blood, use in-house Idexx CBC, Chemistry and Urine machines, prepare labs for submission to outside Idexx lab.
  • Restrain pets for doctor in exam rooms and prior to induction for anesthesia
  • Review discharge instructions with all surgical patients
  • When necessary, help answer, screen and forward incoming phone calls

Skills

  • Work experience as a certified veterinary technician, with proficiency in both exam rooms, running bloodwork and urine samples on Idexx in-house machines, phlebotomy skill, catheter placement, performing radiographs with digital radiology machine, and surgery / anesthesia needs.
  • Hands-on experience with veterinary software is necessary. (Experience with Cornerstone veterinary software is ideal but not required. )

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
