Intuit Dome is Hiring a Director of Event Accounting Near Los Angeles, CA

We are seeking strategic Accounting Director to lead our organization's accounting and financial operations with a focus on meticulous expense management, robust budgetary control, and exacting financial discipline for the Intuit Dome and Kia Forum event business. This pivotal role demands a hands-on leader who thrives on developing and implementing a financially thorough framework, ensuring all financial activities support the company's strategic goals while increasing cost efficiency.

Your role will involve close collaboration with Leadership. You will own, delivering transparent, data-driven financial insights that underpin strategic decision-making and operational excellence. Through your leadership, you will ensure that every dollar spent is an investment towards our company's growth, sustainability, and competitive advantage.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the accounting and finance function prioritizing establishing and maintaining meticulous expense management protocols, ensuring Leadership team receives detailed, actionable, and accurate financial data reflecting the company's fiscal health.
  • Drive the development and implementation of a financial framework centered on strict budgeting, precise financial reporting, and strategic long-term planning. Ensure this framework emphasizes cost control, monitors expenditure against financial targets, and integrates key performance indicators to gauge efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Cultivate a partnership with the Leadership Team and owners, grounded in an understanding of fiscal responsibility, business strategy, and operational performance to foster confidence in financial decisions.
  • Develop and lead the nightly event settlement process, develop and be responsible for all event accounting processes, collect and reconcile event revenue and ensure P&L activity is accurate and complete.
  • Engage with department heads to embed financial considerations into operational planning and execution, focusing on value creation and cost-effective delivery of services. Provide insights on the fiscal implications of new initiatives and strategic decisions.
  • Lead comprehensive financial analysis on business opportunities, including in-depth return on investment calculations, valuation models, and profitability assessments, to guide senior management in making informed, financially sound decisions.
  • Serve as a key financial advisor, conducting meticulous financial analysis, risk evaluations, and due diligence to guide organizational contracts and decision-making processes.
  • Continually analyze and report on the financial outcomes of business initiatives. Deliver precise variance reports and performance tracking to Leadership, recommending adjustments to business strategies based on financial findings.
  • Provide overarching support to the FP&A team and assist in running the event's budget.
  • Assess and analyze arena food and beverage to ensure staffing and costs are handled efficiently and revenues are improved.
  • Lead tax compliance and strategy for all operations, ensuring adherence to Federal, State, and Local regulations and optimizing the organization's tax position.
  • Strengthen financial controls and asset protection by supervising accounting and treasury functions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to accounting standards and principles.
  • Lead the mid-year and annual financial audit process, ensuring visibility and compliance with audit standards.
  • Maintain and analyze historical financial data, identifying trends and benchmarks critical for informed financial planning and budget setting.
  • Cultivate a culture of dedication and continuous improvement within the accounting and finance team, attracting top talent, and providing leadership that encourages professional growth and strong team morale.

Your Background, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; a Master's degree or MBA is preferred.
  • 10 years of progressive experience in accounting management roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership position supervising an accounting department.
  • Prior experience in the concert/event business or a related industry at a company of comparable size and complexity. Show settlement experience preferred.
  • Consistent track record in finance management, budget control, and cost reduction strategies.
  • Familiarity with Federal, State, and Local tax compliance laws and regulations, as well as experience with financial regulatory standards.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, capable of mentoring and developing an accounting team.
  • Exceptional financial acumen with the ability to apply financial principles and practices to a wide range of financial issues.
  • Advanced skills in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and experience with financial software and accounting systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear, concise manner to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to think strategically and provide leadership in financial decision-making.
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently with a sense of urgency and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
  • Expertise in risk management and compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing financial control frameworks and improving financial processes and systems.
  • Experience in managing audits and engaging with audit professionals.
  • Experience with expense management, procurement processes, and supplier negotiations.
  • Strategic planning and execution, with an ability to lead and manage projects.
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment and to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.

Compensation

  • $150,000 - $180,000 annual compensation with a 6% bonus opportunity. Compensation package offered will be based on multiple individualized factors, including a candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • The role is classified as full time exempt.
