Position Summary: Support the review and updating of current standard operations procedures (SOPs) within the Timekeeping and Payroll Section of Montgomery County Government. Provide technical writing for project documentation – including Payroll SOPs, employee/manager job aids, and timekeeping administrator SOPs. Responsibilities: • Updating Master Payroll Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), working with payroll staff, payroll supervisor and/or payroll manager to: o Adding any processes/procedures that are missing o Documenting and/or updating processes/procedures in collaboration with payroll, sitting side-by-side, or via teams, observing work, asking questions, and taking notes for use in writing the final documentation o Managing the process of SOP approvals with the payroll supervisor/manager. • Revising current timekeeping employee/manager job aids to reflect new version changes. • Revising current timekeeping administrator SOPs to reflect the new version changes. Required: • Familiarity with technologies related to timekeeping and payroll functions. • 5 years of experience and highly knowledgeable in observing processes and documenting for various audiences from end user to system administrator. • 3 years of experience with enterprise sized Timekeeping and ERP Systems. • 5 years of experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and screen capture apps such as Snag-it • Possess general knowledge of financial functions of Timekeeping, Payroll, Account Receivables/Payables, and Accounting. • Possess an elevated level of attention to detail. • Possess a strong sense of ownership and accountability. • Be skilled in planning, organizing work and setting priorities. • Work well in a changing environment maintaining a strong positive perspective
