Intervala is Hiring a Purchasing Manager Near Manchester, NH

Job Summary & Essential Functions:

Plan, direct, and coordinate the operations of the Purchasing organization which includes all sites. Establishes, plans, and administers the overall policies and goals for the purchasing organization. Ensure all material and components negotiated and purchased are at or below quoted costs.

  • Lead purchasing team in negotiating favorable pricing for materials and components to ensure purchases are at or below quoted costs.
  • Ensure the organization is maintaining lead-times, days’ supply, vendor cross reference and quote information to ensure system integrity as related to all purchasing activity
  • Participate in the daily production meeting and assist in the development of proper schedules based on material availability
  • Develop purchasing processes including ISO procedure for the organization
  • Develop of the supplier base to ensure strategic suppliers are used on a consistent basis across all plants.
  • Participate in the budgeting process including providing recommendations and projections for resources and capital expenditures.
  • Develop, monitor, measure and provide corrective action for metrics used to manage the purchasing organization.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of suppliers to ensure compliance to company standards: give periodic feedback to customers on performance 
  • Assist in developing accurate and competitive material prices for customer quotations, including impact of minimum quantity buys
  • Ensure representation from purchasing on the MRB (Material Review Board) to ensure timely resolution of rejected material
  • Develop the organization Conflict Mineral response for customers
  • Promote the concept of individual responsibility for product excellence
  • Provide leadership for and development of direct reports by establishing priorities, accountabilities and allocating resources, guiding achievement of performance measures
  • Provide recommendations for specific departmental goals, objectives, and action plans to support facility goals and schedules
  • Participate in development of strategic plans to support the future direction of department
  • Create a positive work environment and set the standard for interdepartmental cooperation
  • Encourage timeliness, decisiveness, and clarity within department that assure actions are appropriate to meet goals
  • Provide input for recruiting, selection, compensation, promotions, terminations, and transfers
  • Monitor key performance indicators and act as necessary to correct discrepancies
  • Complete weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to management

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of the laws of purchasing
  • Advanced MRP, ERP and APS skills
  • Ability to work with charts, tables, and conversions with a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to understand industry commodity trends
  • Advanced level in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Ability to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail to produce quality results
  • Strong planning and organizational skills including the ability to initiate, prioritize, and allocate resources 
  • Ability to effectively communicate in all forms with others inside and outside the organization
  • Ability to negotiate and manage conflict tactfully and professionally 
  • Strong leadership and people management skills including team building, mentoring, and coaching
  • Strong decision-making skills; utilizing sound judgement and thorough processes 
  • Ability to problem solve issues involving multiple variables and limited standardization
  • Ability to be creative and innovative with approaches to solutions and solving complex problems
  • Ability to multitask efficiently and adapt within a rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to communicate with customers projecting the company image to attract business

Required Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field 
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant job experience in purchasing management with 5 years supervisory experience
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Project Management including planning, budgeting, and allocating of resources
