International Study & Vacation, Inc. is Hiring a Summer School Teacher - San Jose State University Near San Jose, CA

As an ISV USA teacher, you will be expected to:

  • Report to and liaise with the Teaching Manager.
  • Follow guidelines as outlined in the Teacher Manual and as explained by your Teaching Manager
  • Ensure policies and procedures are followed at all times
  • Follow the ISV USA syllabus and use the materials you have been given (text books, syllabus and lesson guidelines)
  • Quickly respond to any feedback that arises as a result of a drop in/full length observation
  • Take advantage of every opportunity for students to learn English both inside and outside the classroom
  • Prepare students for the end of week presentations, excursions and cultural visits
  • Help with placement and grouping of students
  • Be prepared for each class and know individual learner profiles
  • Keep accurate lesson plans and registers
  • Make sure that students are receiving sufficient feedback on their work and that you complete a weekly academic report for each student.
  • Show sensitivity to the group and individuals and create a positive learning environment.
  • Attend staff meetings as and when required
  • Report student absences or sickness at the beginning of each lesson.
  • Notify the Teaching Manager of any persistent misbehavior.
  • Prepare classrooms for use, taking care of school property and leave classrooms clean and tidy at the end of each lesson
  • Be proactive in safeguarding students and make sure they are not exposed to any risks.
  • Implement online student questionnaires and post summer teacher feedback.
  • Commit to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all course participants at all times
  • Provide the best possible language learning, social and cultural experience for the students
  • Provide a high-level of customer care to students and all those associated with them
  • Carry out directions from Head Office and comply with all legal and professional requirements
  • Present yourself well; smart appearance appropriate to the role and using appropriate language
