The Job You Will Perform
- Enforce policies to establish a health and safety culture and ensure adherence and consistency to these policies.
- Evaluate practices, procedures and equipment to measure risk and compliance.
- Identify training needs and prepare, in conjunction with Mill Learning Leader learning modules on health, safety and accident prevention.
- Recommend solutions, improvements and/or prevention measures.
- Keep abreast of any updates to regulations and disseminate these changes to necessary teams.
- Support departments in accident prevention and safety-related initiatives.
- Report on KPIs of health and safety awareness, issues and statistics. Provide statistics to accounting
- Co-manage the Incident Prevention System
- Responsible for gas detection management software
- Track and notify department about personal gas monitoring alarms
- Communicate weekly safety incident report
- Conduct chemical reviews and maintain inventory
- Oversee hearing conservation program
- Manage the mill emergency notification system
- Sponsor the Emergency Response Team
- Provide update to several H&S software programs
- TappiSafe, C-Cure, CheckIt, DTN Weather, ConformIT, etc.
- Provide training for Annual Safety Courses, NHI, OHSA, etc.
- Competency in Working at Heights, Abatement, Industrial Hygiene
- 3 years of related work experience in a heavy manufacturing environment.
- College degree (B.S.) in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health & Safety, similar majors (Preferred)
- Strong desire to work in a heavy manufacturing setting
- High regard for safety in the workplace
- Able to learn on the fly, adapt in a highly dynamic environment, and effectively cope with and manage change
- Highly motivated, self-starter, results-driven individual who can also perform well in a team setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated leadership skills & experience
- Comfort with all levels of employees, including peers, engineers, contractors, hourly operators, and management
- Must have access to reliable transportation
