International Lutheran Laymens League is Hiring a Mid Level Gift Counselor Near Saint Louis, MO

Job Summary:

The Mid-Level Ministry Advancement Counselor supports Lutheran Hour Ministries by focusing on individuals giving $1,000 - $19,999 annually to the organization. The MAC will be responsible for acquiring, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors in this category, including establishing short-term and long-term strategies. This will take place through a multi-channel strategy including digital, phone, and mail communication as well as face-to-face visits. The MAC will work cross-functionally with other departments to assess and communicate the impact of mid-level support and make the case for additional and upgraded giving. The MAC will also work with Ministry Advancement and Gift Planning Officers to identify donors with the potential to make a major and/or planned gift and transition these donors “up and over” to new management. The MAC will manage a portfolio of 500 mid-level giving donors and prospects.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Raise funds at a mid-level giving tier ($1,000 - $19,999) in support of the ministry. To this end, manage stewardship, cultivation, and solicitation efforts by coordinating routine contact with supporters including digital, mail, phone, and, when necessary and practical, face-to-face outreach on a regular basis.
  2. Establish goals for number of contacts, visits, asks, and other identified moves that correspond with increased giving.
  3. Track donors who have downgraded in their giving behavior fiscal year to date and move proactively to reverse this trend.
  4. Focus on donor pipeline and work to transition mid-level donors to major and/or planned giving levels for the long-term benefit of the organization.
  5. Monitor performance of key ministry objectives and utilize that information for donor information and to encourage additional giving towards those areas.
  6. Ensure that all donors and donor interactions are tracked accurately and that gifts are acknowledged in a timely and appropriate manner.
  7. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • A deep appreciation for and an ability to successfully articulate the mission and values of Lutheran Hour Ministries
  • Demonstrated proficiency using technology to make presentations, manage prospect contact documentation, communicate with donors via email/social media, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Well organized and a good administrator; able to work independently as well as within a team
  • Ability to work in a system that emphasizes results
