Duties & Responsibilities

Exclusively responsible to ensure the machine (clamps, tools, stops) are positioned and setup correctly to execute each program.

A qualified operator must be capable and approved to perform actions:

• Load programs and tooling.
• Verify program and tooling match the part being machined.
• Setting-up equipment.
• Follow detailed instructions for proper machine set-up
• Verify proper tool offsets.
• Verify proper material work offsets.
• Verify proper clamp locations for part.
• Verify programmed height matches material set-up height from machine table and top of part being machined.
• Verify all programmed Z-height values will safely clear all material and clamps. Pre-run machine program at a predetermined safe distance above the part.
• Complete first article inspection, verified by two qualified people.
• Loading materials and operating machinery.
• Monitor operation and maximize efficiency.
• Maintaining machines.
• Perform quality checks.

Traits:

Machine operators should have strong math and analytical skills in order to read and understand complex instructions, as well as a basic knowledge of how schematics work. Operators must have great attention-to-detail and problem-solving skills to ensure machinery is set-up and operating properly. When something is malfunctioning, they must be able to troubleshoot the problem and resolve the issue in a timely manner which also requires good mechanical and technical skills.

Machines:

3 Axis 24ft Router (Mecal Ariel MC304)

• This machine uses MeSoft conversational programming at the control console, enabling the operator fast programming and production of small to medium runs.
• For the inexperienced programmer, this format creates an excellent opportunity for the operator an introduction to the programming process.

4 Axis 30ft CNC Router (Anderson Stratos Pro 2)

• This machine uses a Fanuc control. Software is Mastercam with Anderson format post processor.
• This machine is a high production 2-spindle with A and B axis.
