General Description:

• Plans, designs, and drives continuous improvement of the manufacturing process in the industrial plant.
• Maximizes efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization.
• Determines parts and tools needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specification.
• Performs a major role in troubleshooting process issues, root causing product defects, and implementing corrective actions.
• Coordinate and implement changes suggested by Launch or Product Engineers. They focus more on technology (PLCs, Robots, Welding, etc.) and are responsible in general of secondary equipment (welding, clipping, wrapping, etc.).
• Up to 50% travel to support manufacturing facilities. Expectation at the facility is to be on the plant floor to diagnose issues, train and mentor technical employees on vac form and edge folding
• Time not travelling will be spent on site in Troy working with Advanced Engineering on the plans to develop FEMA’s and control plans for any new equipment. New equipment should be built based on all regions we work in, and guarantee machines can be used in the future for other builds.

Position Specific Requirements (PSR):

• Expertise in Vacform and Edge wrap processes for door panels, headliners and IPs / Edge folding equipment and systems / laminating and folding systems
• Hands on building of equipment, design, start up and launch of equipment at facility
• Ultrasonic welding / infrared welding
• Lamination / heat hot melt dispersion glue applications / adhesive / glue systems
• Leather lamination
• Robotic cells / Automation
• Transfer systems
• Assembly processes
• Injection Molding
• Understanding of poke-yoke

Qualifications

• BS/BA required
• MBA/MS preferred
• Requires 8 years of experience
