These entry level positions do not require tax experience. Prior federal experience not required. The IRS provides comprehensive paid training. These seasonal positions are offered on an 8-10 month season with the job security of being returned to work each season without reapplying.

Computer operators:

• Activate, monitor, and control job distribution and resource allocation for special processing requirements to link internal operating systems and utility programs with application programs, peripheral equipment, teleprocessing and input/output channels.
• Monitor systems status and performance, observe and respond to system messages, and define, isolate, and resolve a wide range of common equipment and operating problems, failures and malfunctions.
• Run and monitor test programs to identify problems or potential for obvious problems such as memory overload.
• Correct or adjust priorities and workflow by reconfiguring equipment.
