JOB DESCRIPTION: Conducts innovative scientific investigation by developing theories and devising scientific methods and procedures to apply scientific principles, theories and research in projects related to the mission of UTMB. Committed to the discovery of new innovative biomedical and health services knowledge leading to increasingly effective and accessible health care. Evaluates, selects, and applies standard scientific techniques and procedures while using judgment when necessary to adapt standard methods and techniques.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Drive this NIH funded sproject under the direct supervision of PI.
• Perform the proposed experiments and collect the experimental data.
• Work with a group of scientists for trouble shooting and brainstorming.
• Design and develop new research protocols and experimental procedures.
• Analyzes data and write the findings up together with PI for publication.
• Present research findings at local/national/international meetings.
• Be part of the integral group, mentoring junior lab members.
• Open for collaboration and work in a team based environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Ph. D, M.D, D.O., or D.V.M in related field and no experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• MD or PhD in Microbiology and Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
• Experience with handling small laboratory animals.
• Experience with bioinformatical analysis of sequencing data (including single-cell and bulk genomic and epigenomic data).

SALARY:Commensurate with experience.
