Job Description:

Scope
Medical Director Pediatrics will work collaboratively in a dyad/triad partnership to define, establish, and oversee the work of Intermountain Pediatrics, working collaboratively with all disciplines including specialty care, community care, clinical programs, shared clinical services, and the clinically integrated networks.

Job Essentials

Lead physician/advanced practice provider collaborations and defines and establishes care models that best meet Intermountain patient needs and Intermountain system fundamentals.

Lead the process, with clinical program directors, to identify where care should be provided across the Intermountain system.

Ensure that evidence-based clinical care standards are established and effectively implemented across Intermountain for appropriate caregivers.

Establish professional standards for physicians within the clinical program structure in collaboration with the Primary Care Associate Chief Medical Officers.

Ensure physician alignment for the clinical program across the Intermountain system.

Collaborate with Medical Group clinics, and in some instances takes a lead role, in ensuring effective performance of and satisfaction with services provided.

Participate in the mapping of the patient care journey from community care settings through episodic care settings, collaborating effectively at all vertical intersections.

Support and drive results for key metrics identified through Clinical Excellence.

Support and drive results for the fundamentals of care for Intermountain with concern for reducing the cost of care/per member per month ("pmpm") costs, with focus on improving the affordability of healthcare.

Effectively communicate to boards, colleagues, community, and other health systems the work and successes of the clinical program.

Provide specialty care with credentialing criteria for specialty providers, where appropriate.

Lead the physician recruitment process for the system for specialists within the clinical program, including, leading the development of the annual physician recruitment with the Medical Group planner, involving all key stakeholders in the process, and ensuring access to information in a timely, efficient way, with appropriate coordination, documentation, and use of digital tools and technology.

Effectively address performance concerns for providers, including peer review for cases, in collaboration with the Primary Care ACMO.

Support appropriate research endeavors by working collaboratively with the office of research.

Participate in the annual strategic planning process for the clinical program, ensuring that annual goals and key performance metrics are established. Ensures goals are achieved.

Conduct annual performance reviews/conversations for physician leaders within the clinical program system structure.

Physician is the model clinical leader for the Clinical Program for the model healthcare system evidenced by:

Professional dress;

Professional presentations;

Professional proposals and business plans;

Integrity, passion, and energy;

Champion of Intermountain's mission, vision, and values;

Effective implementation of Intermountain's Operating Model.

Minimum Requirements

M.D. or D.O Education must be obtained through an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

Board certified in relevant medical specialty.

- and -

Active Medical Licensure, or in process of obtaining licensure.

Three years of experience leading successful improvement in clinical settings.

- and -

Experience with change management and providing leadership in the adaptation and implementation of new processes and technology that enhance safety.

- and -

Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

- and -

Three years of progressive healthcare leadership experience.

- and -

Holds medical staff privileges at assigned hospital.

- and -

Experience in a role requiring effective conflict resolution skills to work effectively with difficult issues.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Health or another business-related field.

Trained in improvement science (i.e., Six Sigma, Lean, Project Management, Advanced Training Program).

- and -

Significant portion of clinical work done within the hospital setting.

- and -

Experience working in a complex health system (e.g., hospitals, ambulatory clinics, post-acute care). - and -

Demonstrated leadership of clinicians.

$7.25 - $999.99
