Intermountain Health is Hiring a Director of Major Gifts Near Denver, CO

Job Description:

The Director of Major Gifts develops and maintains long-term relationships built on a firm understanding of donor interests/passions and values, as well as writes proposals, oversees fundraising projects, and coordinates board and committee support.

This is an exempt, full-time position located in the Front Range of Colorado (Denver Metro area). To show our commitment to you and assist with your transition into our organization, we may offer a sign-on and relocation bonus when applicable.

With this position, you are eligible to participate in an annual pay-for-performance opportunity ("AP4P"). This plan enables Intermountain Health to provide leaders with an additional performance compensation opportunity. The AP4P opportunities are calculated as a percentage of your base salary. Awards are paid out based on attainment of selected Intermountain Health Board-approved goals.

As a Director of Major Gifts you need to know how to:

  • Develop, implement and manage strategies for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding a major and planned gift donor portfolio.

  • Develop strategic major ($10,000 ) funding requests based on short, intermediate, and long-term funding goals of the Foundation and of the Hospital for donors within portfolio.

  • Develop and write proposals for major and planned gift requests.

  • Cultivate and expand current giving and planned giving donors and integrate planned gift objectives into major individual donor requests in collaboration with the Executive Director and Intermountain Vice President of Philanthropy.

  • Partner with Annual Giving program in pipeline development and identification/screening, with focus on leadership annual giving donors ($1,000-$10,000).

  • Develop major gift materials including briefing memos, proposals and stewardship materials, often in conjunction with Foundation team members.

  • Support needs for project-specific communication for associates, physicians and the community at large.

  • Monitor weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual activity to achieve major and planned gift commitment goals.

  • Track and report relationship management activity using constituent relationship management system (Raiser's Edge).

  • Maintain an awareness of the organization's priorities for fundraising as set by the Hospital Leadership, Foundation Board of Directors, and the Foundation's Executive Director in order to coordinate major and planned gift solicitations for projects of specific interest to donors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree; Advanced degree preferred. CFRE preferred.

  • 5-7 years of experience in a fundraising position. Major gift fundraising preferred. Healthcare experience preferred. Campaign experience preferred.

  • Superior writing, editing, verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Grant writing experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to: manage numerous complex tasks simultaneously; anticipate and meet deadlines; use time effectively; problem-solve independently in a small staff atmosphere; and function in an often stressful and quick turn-around environment.

  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as situations warrant, including donor meetings, events, etc.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with widely used business management software programs (e.g. Microsoft and Google platforms) as well as donor database programs); Raiser's Edge experience preferred.
