The role of the Sr. Scientist is to develop hair related products requested by Marketing, Sales and Supply Chain Managers with a low level of supervision and direction from Supervisor.
Serves as the technical resource for the brands by providing them exclusive, unique innovation as well as technical insights.
This role’s responsibilities encompass the complete product development process from concept generation and discussion with brand team to implementation in alignment with Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain Managers.
Keeping up-to-date with the latest raw material innovations, formulation techniques, and testing methodologies; presenting project status and testing results to various groups; and compiling product dossier that evaluate regulatory restrictions, claims, freedom to operate and patentability, and quality/trial checks.
Formulate new prototypes and develop new technologies in order to create new or to improve existing hair related products. In case of external product development
Execute and coordinate innovation through external R&D sources. Both approaches might involve work with other R&D groups, suppliers and outside research institutes.
Acts as a mentor to junior group members.
Engages in research activities to develop innovative technology and application in products.
YOUR SKILLS:
Background in developing, formulating hair or skin care products is required.
Minimum of a BS or MS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field, 5 years experience working in formulations lab and performing quality testing procedures
Project management experience is preferred
Must have knowledge of technical information of hair care formulations
Ability to effectively translate technical into non-technical communication
Ability to be both creative and process oriented in support of driving innovation and execution
Self-motivated, organized and ability to prioritize workload
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and computer skills are necessary.
Strong presentation, organizational and interpersonal skills are critical.
Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills.
Ability to travel 15 % of time.
