Social Worker

Currently seeking qualified Social Worker candidates to staff in a great hospital in the Indianapolis area. Day shift, 5 days a week, 8-hour day contract is available for 13 weeks. 2 years of recent Medical Social Worker experience is required. Pay rates are $50 per hour, but may vary with the contracts. 

Essential Functions:

• Assesses the psychosocial status, establishing, monitoring, and delivering care as it relates to meeting the psychosocial needs of the patient/client, as directed by the physician’s plan of plan of care.
• Assists the physician and other healthcare team members in assessing and understanding the significant social and emotional needs related to the health problems of the patient/client.
• Participates in ongoing interdisciplinary assessment of the patient.
• Develops the plan of care in consultation with the physician and other team members.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:

• Master or doctoral-prepared graduate with a degree in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
• State license to practice where applicable.
• One (1.5) years of social work experience in a health care setting.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

• Able to provide proof of current CPR certification, per organization-specific policy.
• Able to demonstrate a basic understanding of computers and workplace software.
• Able to work with people, function well under stress, use clinical judgment, be creative, and accept challenges.
• Able to effectively communicate in English with all levels of the workforce, both clinical and non-clinical.
• Skills and knowledge Include Psychosocial and Biopsychosocial Assessments, Initial Evals, Plan of care with problem list and advanced directives, Discharge/Contingency Planning, Providing Counseling for Long-Range Planning, Crisis Intervention, Understanding and Utilization of Short-Term Therapy, Discharge education, Patient Documentation, Understanding of Coverage Criteria and the Americans with Disabilities Act, High-Risk Intervention Patient Vulnerability or Safety Risk, knowledge of cultural barriers, NASW Code of Ethics/Standards of Home Health Care, Knowledge of Community Programs (Income/Insurance), Adult Protective Services, Child Protective Services, Emergency Detentions, Suicide/Homicide/Self-Harm, and acute care settings.
