Summary
An experienced system engineer to design advanced wireless protocols and algorithms for future 3GPP radio access technologies, including 5G New Radio (NR), and to attend and contribute to the standardization of 5G. The ideal candidate will have 5 - 10 years of wireless communications research & design experience and proven experience with 3GPP RAN1 Standards.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out cutting-edge research in the 3GPP PHY layer:
• Participate group brainstorming meetings
• Research, analyze and design radio access network interfaces and protocols for next generation networks
• Evaluate the design using simulation platforms, and/or theoretical analysis
• Participate 3GPP Standardization process
• Prepare Convida’s technical contributions;
• Analyze and report on the 3GPP RAN1 contributions submitted by other companies;
• Prepare 3GPP meeting reports and debrief to Convida internal research team
• Represent Convida Wireless at 3GPP RAN1 Working Group meetings

Qualifications

• M.S., or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (M.S. or Ph.D. preferred)
• 5- 10 Years of wireless communications research & design experience
• Proven experience with and knowledge of 3GPP LTE Advanced and 5G/NR specifications, architectures and functionality and standardization process. Experience in attending and contributing to 3GPP Standards is preferred
• Experience in at least in of the following 5G/NR topics in 3GPP RAN1 WG1: MIMO, mmWave, NR-U, V2X and URLLC
• Strong analytical and research skills and proven innovation track record
• Experience in system design and simulation, familiar with MATLAB simulation tools is a plus
• Ability to thrive in an innovative, dynamic, and research oriented work environment
• Dedicated, result oriented professional with an attitude for getting the job done
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation and negotiation skills
• Availability and willingness to travel
