InterContinental St Paul Riverfront is Hiring a Building Maintenance (2nd Shift) Near Saint Paul, MN

Please take note! We are seeking an afternoon Shift Engineer! This is a 2nd shift role (3P-11P), and availability to work weekends is required. Our Shift Engineers are responsible for maintaining and monitoring the general condition of the property with regards to all aspects of basic electrical, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical and painting work. Complete maintenance request work orders for all departments in a timely manner. Participate in the preventative maintenance program for all building equipment and rooms. Complete all other special projects assigned as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Inspect Guestrooms, public spaces, and back of the house areas to ensure good condition, attractive appearance, proper operation of equipment, and all aspects of life safety. Any and all other duties as assigned.
  • Perform duties requiring experience in using basic hand tools, power tools, and test equipment. Kneeling, stooping, grasping, lifting, using ladders, climbing stairs. Completing preventative maintenance on equipment, machinery, property finishes, and guestrooms. Any and all other duties as assigned.
  • Administrative duties which include but are not limited to logbook entries, utility meter reading entries, operating equipment readings, and verifying hotel activity, assisting with parts ordering
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all department policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
  • Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests needs in a manner that best represents the hotel.
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times. Monitor and respond to all maintenance radio calls in a positive and professional manner and resolve all guest rquests, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Monitor and complete all assigned work orders in a timely manner:
a. Plumbing
b. Electrical
c. Kitchen equipment
d. Laundry equipment
e. Guestrooms
  • Maintain timelines and work schedule in accordance with the preventative maintenance program for both guestrooms and mechanical systems.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a commercial building maintenance technician.
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Certificate of completion of specialized training
  • Working knowledge of proper chemical and equipment handling, use, and disposal.
  • Working knowledge of:
a. health codes
b. electrical codes
c. national/local fire codes
d. local mechanical codes
e. Blueprints and wiring schematics
f. power and hand tools, meters, etc. as it relates to technical trades
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Compute mathematic calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
  • Operate high reach equipment, ladders, and other like equipment
  • Exert physical effort in lifting/transporting at least 50 pounds
  • Push/pull carts and other equipment up to 250 pounds.
  • Endure various physical movements throughout the work area.
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility up to 4 hours in length.
