Overview

Job Purpose

The Project Lead is a member of the infrastructure project management team responsible for end-to-end project and program deliveries within Infrastructure & Operations; this includes tracking project requirements, creating detailed project plans and working directly with engineers and managers to ensure successful project delivery. The Project Lead will use metrics to track project progress, capture and manage issues & risks and work to coordinate the efficiency of the project team. The candidate must be a self-starter but work effectively within a team, promoting collaboration and accountability of deliverables. Project Lead must have good project management skills along with excellent written, oral communication skills and the ability to work with virtual project teams as delivery can span locations and timezones. As a result, this position may require weekend and evening work at times and reports to the Manager, Infrastructure PMO.

Responsibilities

  • Point of contact for application, development, QA, products and support teams looking for new infrastructure delivery, scale out, enhancements, etc.
  • Lead infrastructure upgrades and replacements, making sure impact on business teams and/or customers is captured and managed
  • Interfacing with multiple stakeholders, gathering and prioritizing requirements to facilitate project scope definition & signoff; then manage scope throughout the project.
  • Ensure clear understanding of project team on project objectives, deliverables, roles & responsibilities within the team and identify dependencies or blockers to delivery.
  • Drive project progress & documentation in accordance with standard infrastructure project delivery processes and checkpoints
  • Coordinate infrastructure resources across teams and technologies; following established workflows for builds, approvals and automation
  • Track infrastructure project status, outstanding issues, documentation and decisions
  • Create cross-functional project plans following standard project phasing, stakeholder identification, resourcing, communication plans and risk analysis (including contingency plans).
  • Facilitate regular status meetings to manage the project plan execution and reporting; capture & track actions, following up and escalating where necessary to meet timelines and commitments.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelors or equivalent degree
  • Minimum 3-5 years of working experience as a project lead or a technical role within information technology
  • Experience in applying standardized project control mechanisms such as planning and project progress tracking / control, estimating, logic analysis, resource planning, allocation, issues and risk management.
  • Ability to self-start effectively with ambiguity and varying levels of detail. 
  • Communication and interpersonal skills that are highly developed. 
  • Ability to organize personal and team time effectively.
  • Technical understanding of infrastructure technologies
  • Financial industry experience a plus
  • Initially this Project Lead will focus on Exchange & Clearing business units so previous experience in trading technology is also of benefit
