Child Hunger Programs Coordinator
ABOUT US

Inter-Faith Food Shuttle envisions a hunger free community. We feed our neighbors, teach self-sufficiency,
grow healthy food, and cultivate innovative approaches to end hunger. As a member of Feeding America, the
Food Shuttle distributes over 8 million pounds of food per year, 26% of which is fresh produce. From Senior
Grocery Bags, Backpack Buddies and School Pantries; to Community Health Education and Mobile Markets;
Catering and Culinary Job Training; and Community Gardening and a 14-Acre Farm; we go directly to the point
of need to empower people and overcome the burden of hunger.

The Child Hunger Programs (CHP) Coordinator is responsible for working directly with Social Workers,
Counselors, and, or Administrators within elementary, middle, and high schools to implement BackPack
Buddies and or School Choice Pantries within the schools. CHP Coordinator works under the supervision of the
Child Hunger Programs Manager. The CHP Coordinator is based primarily at Inter-Faith Food Shuttle’s Food
Hub in Durham but travel to the Malone Center in Raleigh and other locations in our seven-county service area
is required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish and maintain program contractual agreements with each participating school in compliance
with Feeding America National policies and procedures.
  • Commit to the Food Shuttle mission and apply our Core Values
  • Collaborate with school site coordinators and Operations Department to ensure effective and efficient
program delivery.
  • Provide excellent customer service to our school partners.
  • Submit program scheduling requests to Warehouse Manager to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Coordinate distribution of nutrition education materials with the Community Health Education Team in
support of Child Hunger Program.
  • Ensure collection and maintain school data for each site’s distribution.
  • Conduct program evaluations annually.
  • Complete reports and projects as required in a timely manner.
  • Assist Manager in implementing sustainable growth plans for expanding current programs and
executing new Child Hunger Programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services or related field preferred or equivalent work experience
  • The ability to relate to and understand the effects of food insecurity within our communities.
  • Program oversight and coordination experience.
  • Highly skilled ability to prioritize and balance projects at various stages simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively as a team member.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to solve problems or overcome issues quickly and creatively.
  • Proven ability to work steadily and independently with minimum supervision.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 Business Premium. (Publisher, PowerPoint, Word, Excel,
Outlook)
  • Ability to occasionally work extended hours or on a weekend based on program demands.
  • ServSafe Certification a plus
  • Working knowledge of Data Management Software and Inventory System (Salesforce) a plus.
  • Spanish speaking a plus

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work Environment: Work is value, goal and deadline oriented with frequent interaction with school
personnel.
  • Primarily computer work in a climate controlled, office setting, with extended hours as needed.
  • Some physical work in both warehouse and outdoor settings, in all weather conditions and temperatures is
required.
  • The noise level is typically moderate.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
  • Extensive computer operation with repetitive finger movement
  • Required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40lbs.
