Intensive Education Academy seeks a Library Media and Innovation Specialist. The Specialist will lead the integration of library resources and technology, fostering learning and innovation. This full-time position, reporting to the Director of Education, requires strong relationship-building skills and expertise in library curation and technology training.
Job Title: Library Media and Innovation Specialist
Job Location: West Hartford, CT
Date Available: School year 2024-2025
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Library Science, Educational Technology, or a related field
Minimum 5 years of teaching experience
ISTE Certification and Google Certified
Project Based Teaching Experience
Preferred Requirements:
Evidence of 5 years of successful administrative experience
Additional educational technology training, certifications, and credentials
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain a dynamic library media program aligned with the curriculum
Curate library resources to foster reading, research, and inquiry
Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources and promote information literacy
Guide student research and projects
Oversee the development and management of the maker space
Coordinate hands-on learning activities and workshops
Procure and maintain maker space equipment and supplies
Oversee Project Based Learning activities in the Maker space and investigations based on student interests
Conduct training sessions for teachers and students on maker space tools
Partner with community organizations to expand real-world learning opportunities
Build a community partnership with the West Hartford Public Library
Evaluate program effectiveness and make necessary adjustments
Stay updated on library media and maker space best practices
Promote the library and maker space as integral parts of education at IEA
