Job Opportunity: Utility Worker - Storm & Sanitary

A client of ours located in SE Portland is looking for an experienced Utility Worker for their Storm & Sanitary department. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in general maintenance and construction work.

Responsibilities:

• Operate a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, maintenance industry.
• Repair city streets, water, wastewater, storm drainage facilities, systems and parks and grounds.
• Respond to public inquiries and complaints regarding storm water drainage.
• Keep accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
• Conduct regular inspections of storm drains, catch basins and culverts.

Requirements:

• Oregon Wastewater Collection Certification - Must possess at time of hire.
• Valid Oregon Commercial Driver's License – Class B with tanker and air brake endorsements; driving record must be clean.
• 5 years of experience in general maintenance and/or construction.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire: First Aid, CPR, AED Certification; Public Agency Work Zone Traffic Control training and obtain Flagger's Card; Hazard Material Certification; Cave-in Protection/Competent Person Training.

Schedule:

• Monday – Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm
• As a Utility Worker Journey in the Public Works Department, you are considered a “First Responder” which is considered essential personnel. This means that in the event City offices close due to inclement weather, etc., you are still required to report to work for your scheduled shift, as well as any overtime or extra hours required.
• The Utility Worker Journey position is subject to a rotating “on-call” schedule after training has been completed.

Pay:

• $5,228 to $6,354/month 3% bilingual premium
