Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Technician to join our team. As a Medication Technician, you will be responsible for administering medications to patients, ensuring their safety and well-being. This role requires strong caregiving skills, knowledge of medical terminology, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Administer medications to patients according to prescribed dosages and schedules
- Monitor patients for any adverse reactions or side effects from medications
- Document medication administration accurately and timely
- Assist with physical examinations and medical procedures as directed by healthcare professionals
- Provide catheter care and assist with tube feeding as needed
- Collaborate with nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure proper patient care
- Maintain accurate medication records and inventory levels
- Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families
- Assist with hospice care in an empathetic and compassionate manner
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Certification as a Medication Technician preferred
- Previous experience in assisted living or similar healthcare setting is a plus
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy is required
- Familiarity with Cerner or other electronic medical record systems is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others
